We have been super busy for the past two weeks with over 10 events!

I wanted to show you a quick peek at the wedding we did at Brookside Gardens on September 5th!  Please excuse the cell phone photo as I left my camera at home!  They had such a fabulous day and Tara did such an amazing job.  From  the fragrance garden ceremony to cocktails at the tea house complete with cornhole and croquet, there were special details everywhere!  The guests got a special treat with this amazing tent set up by Sugar Plum, Main Event and our team.  We brought in a new color of lanterns to our fleet with this beautiful tea color.  More colors are coming next week as well!  Stay tuned for more photos from this wedding soon!

Some of you have been asking on Twitter and on Facebook – what do we mean by “Wedetarian”?

OFFICIAL ELEGANCE & SIMPLICITY, INC. DEFINITION OF “WEDETARIAN”:

wedetarian: “wed-i-tair-ee-uhn”

a person who normally does not eat or does not believe in eating meat, fish, fowl, or, in some cases, any food derived from animals, as eggs or cheese, but subsists on vegetables, fruits, nuts, grain, etc.  However, while working at weddings, will eat anything after setting up decor and design for a bride due to utter exhaustion and hunger pains in the belly.

It is a phrase that our executive consultant on staff (Tara Davis) came up with while eating a vendor meal at a wedding. Tara is a vegetarian and typically vendors do not get a vegetarian meal.  We have to eat what we are given to make sure we do everything within a specific time frame…no time to be picky really.  So – she decided to become a “wedetarian”!

Here is a photo of what a certain caterer (nameless) gave as vegetarian meal – I am not even going to name the most excellent photographer behind this for fear of being found out by the caterer (they will understand):

So…this is really just a just a general post – not to say we are not thankful for the food we receive when consulting at a wedding.  We must, as vendors, realize that wedetarianism is not such a bad thing…it is better than eating just a pile of vegetables!  :-)

Hey there blog goers, this is Tara Davis, Executive Consultant for Elegance and Simplicity. I’ll be helping Katie keep you fabulous folks in the know about the latest and greatest in the world of weddings.

How excited was I when I looked at my To-Do list today and the first item listed in big bold letters was

EAT CHOCOLATE!

For breakfast, I enjoyed part of an Après Peau chocolate bar. Après Peau, located at 1430 K Street NW, offers unique Washington, DC related items. They carry interesting chocolate bars that would be an incredible addition to a welcome bag for out of town guests. Each bar, exclusively designed for Après Peau, pays tribute to a Washington DC landmark. A little piece of DC that melts in your mouth! The chocolate bars come in seven fun flavors with clever names.
