Katie Martin's Anniversary and lead up post

I still pinch myself when I think about how blessed I am!!!  Today marks the fourth year that the love of my life has been in the United States and that we have been married!  Yep – he got off the plane, went to IHOP with my family and I at 1:30am and at 9am we were at the courthouse getting married.  Why?  We had a wedding planned that afternoon and he was supposed to arrive 3 weeks earlier!  Folks – if you are marrying someone from another country – be prepared to be flexible!  The photos above are a few of my favorite as Miguel and I waited for the immigration paperwork to go through.  Derek (my son) came on a couple of trips with me to the DR (Dominican Republic) before Miguel had even stepped foot on American soil.  Miguel was worth waiting for.

To say that I was full of excitement, joy and love on our wedding day is an understatement.  I literally thought he was not going to be here on June 26th…I thought we were going to have to cancel the wedding.  I didn’t care about the wedding at all…I just wanted Miguel home with me.  Being apart for so long was so hard.  So having him here meant everything to me.  So having the wedding that day was amazing and pretty much “the icing on the cake”!
