Here’s the thing about love — it’s not just you and your partner. And if you’ve decided to spend the rest of your lives together, it’s because you share a love of many things. At the top of the list? A four-legged best friend. That’s why Rover.com has created a wedding contest that’s all about (you guessed it) dogs!
The Rover community rallies pet sitters and pairs them with sweet canines and values love and trust above all else. So it’s only natural that they want to hear your love story. Share how it all—how the two of you fell in head over heels, what led you down the aisle (within the last year or in the next twelve months), and how the love for your dog sits at the center of it all. If your story is chosen as the first prize winner, Rover.com will give you $1000 towards your wedding expenses (which hopefully includes/included formal accessories for Fido).
All in? Here’s what you need to do:
- Write a 500 – 1000 word essay telling the story of you, your current or future spouse, and your dog, and the love you share.
- Put your essay in a Google doc, with your name and wedding date.
- Share a link to your wedding website, or upload a copy of your wedding invitation or “save the date” notice to an image hosting service (like Imgur) and share the link to your image on the hosting service.
- Fill out our form in Google Forms, including a link to the essay, here: https://goo.gl/forms/zHHP06XlJm5c6Gfl1
- Submit your entry by Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at 11:59 pm PST
Keep in mind that the most important element of your essay is emotional impact — we imagine it won’t be too difficult to tap into the feels surrounding your relationship with your pup, partner, and how one affects the other. As you sit down to capture your thoughts, what you really want to be sure to express is this:
In what ways has your dog’s presence in your life contributed to your outlook on love and life with your spouse, or soon-to-be spouse?

- How was your dog expanded your views on love overall?
- Did your dog come into your life before or after meeting your partner?
- Did Fido participate in your wedding? How so?
